Federal Court in California Rules Pledge of Allegiance Unconstitutional

A federal district court in San Francisco has ruled that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools is unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton ruled that the pledge's reference to one nation "under God" violates school children's right to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God." Karlton said he was bound by 2002 precedent of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Your Senators could have stopped this nonsense last year but they failed to act. In 2004, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would have prohibited liberal judges from ruling on issues involving the pledge, but failed because the bill died in U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

S. 1046 – The Pledge Protection Act of 2005 has been introduced in the U.S. Senate. Let's not let this happen again!

S.1046 - The Pledge Protection Act of 2005 - reads as follows: 'No court created by Act of Congress shall have any jurisdiction, and the Supreme Court shall have no appellate jurisdiction, to hear or decide any question pertaining to the interpretation of, or the validity under the Constitution of, the Pledge of Allegiance, as defined in section 4 of title 4, or its recitation.'

By exercising the authority of Congress to regulate the jurisdiction of federal courts, the Pledge Protection Act will do more than express an affirmation by Congress that the Pledge is constitutional. It will rein in a renegade judiciary that has confused the freedom for religion with freedom from religion.

Gov. Schwarzenegger Will VETO Gay Marriage Bill

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, citing a ballot measure supporting traditional marriage, promised yesterday to veto the first state legislation approving same-sex marriage.

The Legislature's action trampled over Proposition 22, an overwhelmingly popular 2000 initiative that banned same-sex marriage in California, said a spokeswoman for the governor.

"We cannot have a system where the people vote and the Legislature derails the vote," said Margita Thompson, Schwarzenegger's press secretary. "Out of respect for the will of the people, the governor will veto AB 849."

Please send a "Thank You!" email to Gov. Schwarzenegger for promising to Veto the gay marriage bill passed by California legislators against the people's will.

Wife Says Criticism of Bush 'Disgusting'

Thank you Laura, it is disgusting!
"I think all of those remarks are disgusting, to be perfectly frank, because of course President Bush cares about everyone in our country," the first lady said Thursday in an interview with American Urban Radio Networks.

"And I know that. I mean, I'm the person who lives with him," she said. "I know what he's like and I know what he thinks and I know how he cares about people."

Louisiana Gov. Blanco Turned Away the Red Cross

More from Rick Roberts, 760 KFMB-AM:
"At the very moment that Ray Nagin, the Mayor of New Orleans, was screaming where's the food, where's the water, it was over the overpass [nearby], and state officials (GOV. BLANCO) were saying you can't come in! - Major Garrett - reporter in New Orleans on Red Cross being turned away

The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security which takes its orders from Louisiana Governor Blanco (DEM) blocked a vanguard of Red Cross trucks filled with water, food, blankets and hygiene items from bringing relief to the thousands of hungry and thirsty evacuees stranded in the New Orleans Superdome after Hurricane Katrina struck.

The state agency responsible for Louisiana's security "told the Red Cross explicitly, you cannot come.

"At the very moment that Ray Nagin, the Mayor of New Orleans, was screaming where's the food, where's the water, it was over the overpass [nearby], and state officials (GOV. BLANCO) were saying you can't come in!" This according to a reporter on the scene in New Orleans. MAJOR Garrett - FOX NEWS said the decision was made and communicated to the Red Cross by the state department of Homeland Security and the state National Guard, both of which report to Gov. Kathleen Blanco.

The Louisiana governor's office of Homeland Security explained to the Red Cross that they didn't want the relief supplies, because they wanted the evacuees to leave.

******

So let me get this straight. Mayor Ray Nagin is yelling and cursing at the FEDs and Bush that they need buses…though he had buses and refused to evacuate people on them!

He’s yelling it’s Bush’s fault that his people don’t have food...when food was right across the bridge but the Governor was blocking it.

Nagin was yelling that America doesn’t care and that this is a black eye on America because it just shows how racist everyone is especially BUSH… and yet he was the one explicitly responsible for the welfare and evacuation of the citizens of his city!

Here’s the lesson you can learn from this. When you see a loudmouth liberal spouting off… when you hear the loudest complaining voice in the crowd…. MORE THAN LIKELY…THEY ARE THE ONE TO BLAME!

Mayor CYA should be held accountable for what he has done, and the shame he tried to bring on this country's leaders.

Don't Blame Bush for Hurricane Katrina

From Rick Roberts, 760 KFMB-AM:

Here's the southeast Louisiana evac plan supplement, most recently revised in 2000. It states:
The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating.

It is the responsiblity of the Mayor to get those buses and people moving! How can Mayor Nagin explain this:

HUNDREDS OF BUSES UNDERWATER THAT NEVER MOVED!

MAYOR NAGIN NEVER ORDERED THEM TO PICK UP THE POOR THAT "COULDN'T AFFORD TO LEAVE."

BUT MAYOR NAGIN WENT ON CNN AND CURSED AND YELLED AT PRESIDENT BUSH "I NEED TROOPS, MAN! I NEED 500 BUSES, MAN! THIS IS A NATIONAL DISASTER!"

Nagin went on to scream "Get every Greyhound bus in the country and get them moving!"

"I don't know whether it's the governor's problem, or it's the president's problem, but somebody needs to get ... on a plane and sit down, the two of them, and figure this out right now," Nagin said.

"Get off your asses and let's do something!" Nagin said.

***********

With no due respect Mayor Nagin ...it was a "Mayor problem." Where were you when your people expected you to do something?!

Here is an article from the Houston Chronicle that further explains why Nagin is to blame, not Bush: City had evacuation plan but strayed from strategy
